What are Moroccan natural cosmetics?

A Moroccan natural cosmetics are skincare products formulated with Morocco's native active ingredients, such as argan oil, prickly pear seed oil, rhassoul clay and rose water, often inspired by hammam rituals and Berber beauty traditions. At Carmel, they are manufactured in Agadir in an ISO 22716 factory, with traceable ingredients, a stated percentage of natural origin and regulatory documentation prepared for Morocco, Europe and the United States.

  • Traceable origin

Native active ingredients sourced from Moroccan cooperatives and suppliers, with a technical data sheet and certificate of analysis for every raw material.

  • Clean formulas, clearly defined

No sulfates, silicones, parabens or mineral oils. The percentage of natural origin is stated for each formula.

  • Tested before sale

Stability testing, preservative challenge testing and safety assessment: the same tests as for a pharmacy product.

  • Compliant where you sell

Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 for Europe, AMMPS registration in Morocco and FDA registration (MoCRA) in the United States.

Three ancestral rituals, three ranges ready for your name

The gestures stay rooted in tradition. The formula undergoes the stability, preservative and safety tests required for sale in stores, spas or online.

What clean means to us

The questions natural cosmetics brands ask before signing, and our straightforward answers.

  • YouNatural or organic?

CarmelBoth are possible, and we specify which. Natural means naturally derived ingredients, with the percentage stated for each formula. Organic means certified organic raw materials: Ecocert, COSMOS or USDA, available on request. The factory itself is not certified organic, and we will never claim it on your label.

  • YouClean: free from what, exactly?

CarmelNo sulfates, silicones, parabens, mineral oils or synthetic colorants. Choose natural fragrances or no fragrance at all. We agree the exact list with you, then document it in the INCI.

  • YouIs a natural product stable?

CarmelYes, when formulated to be. Every formula undergoes stability testing and preservative challenge testing, with gentle preservatives accepted by natural cosmetics standards. An argan serum that turns rancid in three months is not clean. It is a failed product.

  • YouCan I claim "100% natural"?

CarmelOnly if it is true and can be substantiated. We develop your claims with you according to European rules: a calculated percentage of natural origin, not a slogan. That protects your brand during an inspection.

  • YouWhere do the raw materials come from?

CarmelFrom Moroccan cooperatives and suppliers for native active ingredients, with a technical data sheet and certificate of analysis for every material, as required by Morocco's import and manufacturing declaration.

  • YouMy clients are in Europe. What does that mean?

CarmelYour products come with a Product Information File, safety assessment and labeling compliant with Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. For Morocco, we prepare AMMPS registration; for the United States, FDA registration (MoCRA).

A note from the founder

I founded Carmel in Agadir in 2020, a few kilometers from the argan cooperatives. Since then, more than 500 brands have trusted us with their products. Many wanted the same thing: natural skincare inspired by our rituals, but formulated and tested with the rigor of a European pharmacy product.

That is exactly what we manufacture. If your brand shares that ambition, send us your idea. You will receive samples, not a sales pitch.

Questions about creating a natural cosmetics brand

Another question? An advisor can help on WhatsApp.

How do you create a natural cosmetics brand in Morocco?

Choose your products and audience, then work with a manufacturing lab on formulation, testing, packaging and regulatory documentation. At Carmel, start with a proven natural formula or custom development, test free samples, then have your range manufactured under your name at our ISO 22716 factory in Agadir.

What is a natural cosmetic product?

A product made with naturally derived plant or mineral ingredients processed using simple methods. There is no legal definition: the percentage of natural origin stated for each formula and the INCI list are what count. We provide both.

Are you an organic cosmetics lab?

We are an ISO 22716- and ISO 9001-certified lab that formulates with certified organic raw materials (Ecocert, COSMOS, USDA) when requested. The production site is not certified organic. We make this clear so your claims stay accurate.

Which Moroccan ingredients can you use?

Argan oil, prickly pear seed oil, rhassoul clay, Kelaât M'Gouna rose water, orange blossom, black seed (nigella) oil, henna, olive black soap, nila, honey and almond. Every raw material is traceable, with its technical data sheet and certificate of analysis.

Can a traditional ritual become a finished product?

That is what we do: black soap that keeps, ready-to-use rhassoul and stabilized argan oil. The ritual stays; the formula undergoes the stability, preservative and safety tests required for sale in stores or online.

Can I sell these products in Europe?

Yes. Products are formulated according to Regulation (EC) 1223/2009, with a compliant Product Information File, safety assessment and labeling. We also prepare AMMPS registration for Morocco and FDA registration (MoCRA) for the United States.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Our MOQ is accessible and agreed with you in the quote, product by product. You receive a detailed quote, free and without obligation.

Can I test before committing?

Yes. Samples are free: textures and fragrances. You can also visit the factory in Aït Melloul by appointment if you wish.
